AISBackup is a backup program developed by Aquarius I.S. Consultancy Limited. The program was released in April, 2002 and provides its customers backup to DVD among other quite popular backup features.

With the use of AIS backup you can backup data to DVD, to CD, to local and networked hard drives, to removable media and to FTP servers. In this review we will mainly stop on backup to DVD. You can do it using the integrated DVD burner, using a third party packet writing interface or using a third party DVD burning application. Everything is clear with the integrated burner. If you want to backup files to DVD with packet writing interface you will have to install Adaptec DirectCD, CeQuadrat PacketCD, Nero InCD or other software like that.

AISBackup can back up and restore Windows registry, Windows Server 2000 & 2003 Active Directory, NTFS File and Folder Security Settings, Microsoft Exchange Server and encrypted files retaining their encrypted state. Another feature is backing up and restoring Windows to new partitions and drives. However, what we didn't like about the program is its unfriendly interface with many unknown terms - setting the program up can become quite a challenging task. For example, you will have to know the difference between the words backup and backup job. You may be surprised when you know that AIS backup means source files as backup job and backup copy itself as backup.

All things considered, AISBackup is suitable and cost-effective for backup to DVD. If you aren't afraid of described disadvantages in the interface and aren't afraid of the new terms, the program will probably meet your backup requirements.
